The story of Seiko began in 1881, when a 22 year old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. Today, after more than 130 years of innovation, Kintaro Hattori’s company is still dedicated to the perfection that the founder always strove to achieve.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewellery shop called "K. Hattori" in Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha. Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success". The first watches produced under the Seiko brand appeared in 1924. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Astron, the world's first production quartz watch; when it was introduced, it cost the same as a medium-sized car. Seiko later went on to introduce the first quartz chronograph. In the late 1980s, Seiko produced the first Kinetic watch that combined the self-energizing attributes of an automatic watch with quartz accuracy. The watch is entirely powered by its movement in everyday wear. In 1985, Orient and Seiko established a joint factory. Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as micro gears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials. Seiko watches were originally produced by two different subsidiaries. One was Diani Seikosha Co., and the other was Suwa Seikosha Co. Having two companies both producing the same brand of watch enabled Seiko to improve technology through competition and hedge risk. It also reduced risk of production problems, since one company can increase production in the case of decreased production in the other party. The fully integrated in-house production system is still practised for luxury watches in Japan.

Shipping

- The shipping is always free of charge on any purchase over 75 Euro

- Generally, packages are shipped directly from our warehouse with UPS as a registered and insured parcel.

- The total delivery time depends on if what you order is in stock or not and if we need to order the item from the supplier first.

- Normally, it takes about 1-2 working days for a parcel to arrive at the nearest pick-up location after we have shipped it from our warehouse. However, we cannot be responsible for any delays the courier encounters.

- When a product is shipped from our warehouse you will get a notification by email with a tracking number as well as an automatic SMS.

- UPS will send a notification upon arrival and after a few days again if the package has not been collected.

- The parcel will remain at the pick-up location for a limited amount of time before it will be automatically returned if not collected on time.
